Seasonal Information
Rivers & Waterfalls: Vernal, Nevada, and Bridalveil Falls have minimal
water flow and are well below peak flows for the year. Yosemite Falls
is dry.
Bears: Bears are becoming active, both day and night: be sure to store
your food properly and to remain at least 50 yards from bears in
forest and meadows.
Fire & Smoke: Prescribed fires and pile burning are scheduled this summer.
Lodging & Other Concessions
In Yosemite Valley, Curry Village, Housekeeping Camp, Yosemite Lodge,
and The Ahwahnee are open. Outside of Yosemite Valley, Tuolumne
Meadows Lodge and White Wolf Lodge are open. The Wawona Hotel is also
open.
Reservations are available up to 366 days in advance. Visit DNC Parks
& Resorts' website for more information.
Campgrounds
Yosemite Valley: Camp 4 is open on a first-come, first-served basis.
Upper, Lower, and North Pines Campgrounds are open; reservations are
required.
Outside Yosemite Valley:
Hodgdon Meadow, Wawona, and Crane Flat Campgrounds are open;
reservations required. Tamarack Flat, White Wolf, Yosemite Creek,
Porcupine Flat, and Bridalveil Creek Campgrounds are open on a
first-come first-served basis. Tuolumne Meadows Campground is open and
is half reservations and half first-come first-served.
Check today's campground availability by calling 209/372-0266.
Estimated opening and closing dates in 2013 for all campgrounds are available.
Reservations are available up to five months in advance and are
strongly recommended. If you don't have a reservation, get details
about camping without a reservation.
Trails and Wilderness
Trails in Yosemite may be closed when there are hidden hazards or when
they are impassable due to rock fall, snow, ice, or fire. Open trails
aren't necessarily free of hazards--by entering the wilderness, you
assume responsibility for your safety and must use good judgment.
Trails not listed below are open, but may be snowy and very difficult
to find from about November through May/June (and may have other
hazards).
The Half Dome cables are up through October 14. A permit is required
to hike to the top of Half Dome when the cables are up.
Climbing closures are in effect on several routes each year from March
1 through Aug. 1 to protect peregrine falcons.
