JOYCE – Effective immediately, loads over legal weights are prohibited from crossing the Lyre River Bridge located four miles west of Joyce on US 112 in Clallam County. The restriction was put in place after WSDOT bridge engineers discovered carpenter ant damage to a wooden bridge pile during a routine bridge inspection earlier this week.

Bridge maintenance crews will remove and replace the damaged bridge pile. While the work is under way, traffic will be reduced to a single alternating lane. From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, through Wednesday, Aug, 5, motorists can expect delays and a flagging operation at the bridge site. Once repairs are complete, bridge engineers will determine whether the over-legal load restriction can be lifted.

Legal, non-permitted loads are still allowed to cross the bridge.
