The City of Hayward wishes you a happy, memorable and safe Fourth of July holiday! This is a friendly reminder that ALL fireworks (including the "safe & sane" variety) are banned in Hayward and in the Fairview Fire Prevention District. Take two minutes to watch our short YouTube video and learn more: This message has never been more serious. Each year, fireworks account for nearly 10,000 emergency room visits and cause more than 30,000 fires in the United States. With extreme drought conditions dramatically increasing the risk of destructive and dangerous fires, keeping our community safe this July 4th is a shared responsibility. Report fireworks complaints immediately to the Hayward Police Department: (510) 293-7000. Leave the lighting to trained professionals. By far, the safest way to enjoy fireworks is through public displays conducted by professional pyrotechnics hired by communities throughout the Bay Area. 2015 Public Fireworks Displays Around the Bay:
