LOCATION: Interstate 90 between Seattle and Mercer Island.
DETAILS: All traffic heading westbound on I-90 between Bellevue and Seattle will be detoured to the express lanes from 11 p.m. Friday, April 17, to 5 a.m. Monday, April 20. Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will be upgrading the operations and safety systems inside the westbound Mount Baker Tunnel and Mercer Island Lid.
Flammable cargo will be prohibited from traveling westbound on I-90 during this time. Drivers needing to transport flammable materials across Lake Washington must use alternate routes such as Interstate 405, State Route 520 or 522. Drivers transporting flammable materials on westbound I-90 must exit at East Mercer Way (Exit #8) in Mercer Island.
