THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LOS ANGELES/OXNARD HAS ISSUED A
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW, WHICH IS IN EFFECT
FROM 10 AM SUNDAY TO 8 AM PST MONDAY.
LOCATIONS, THE SAN GABRIEL MOUNTAINS WILL SEE THE BULK OF THE
SNOW SHOWERS, WHILE THE HILLS ABOVE THE INTERSTATE 5 CORRIDOR
WILL EXPERIENCE LIGHTER AMOUNTS.
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS AND TIMING, 4 TO 7 INCHES ACROSS THE SAN
GABRIEL MOUNTAINS WITH 1-2 INCHES ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS ABOVE THE
INTERSTATE 5 CORRIDOR. INITIALLY, THE SNOW LEVEL WILL BE AROUND
7000 FT SUNDAY MORNING, THEN LOWER TO BETWEEN 5500 AND 6000 FT
BY SUNDAY NIGHT INTO EARLY MONDAY MORNING.
IMPACTS, ACCUMULATING SNOW BETWEEN 4 AND 7 INCHES WILL LEAD TO
HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS FOR ANYONE VENTURING INTO THE MOUNTAINS.
ROADS WILL BE ICY AND A FEW ROAD CLOSURES ARE A POSSIBILITY,
INCLUDING HIGHWAY 2 IN THE SAN GABRIEL MOUNTAINS.
WINDS, STRONGEST WINDS WILL OCCUR ACROSS THE SAN GABRIEL
MOUNTAINS WITH SOUTH TO WEST WINDS 15 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40
MPH THROUGH THE PERIOD.
