LOCATION: Northbound Interstate 5 between the South 188th Street and Southcenter Parkway exits.

DETAILS: Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews will close up to four lanes of northbound Interstate 5 between the South 188th Street and Southcenter Parkway exits on Saturday, Nov. 1, to remove an overhead sign bridge.

  • The overnight lane closures will begin at 10 p.m. Saturday.
  • Four lanes will be closed by midnight.
  • One lane will remain open throughout the closure.
  • All lanes will reopen to traffic by 5 a.m. Sunday morning.

The sign bridge set to be removed was installed during the 1960s. The structure has reached the end of its functional life and repairs are no longer cost-effective. The signs once attached to the sign bridge have been relocated to the side of the road.

MORE INFORMATION: Before drivers head out the door, they can get real-time traffic information on their phone with the WSDOT traffic app. They can also track the WSDOT traffic Twitter feed and check upcoming closures on the What’s Happening Now page.
