In my days as a cable installer, whenever a customer told us “Don’t worry, my dog won’t bite,” we asked them to put that lovely dog in the bathroom. Unfortunately, letter carriers, 5,581 of whom were bitten by dogs last year, rarely get to take that option.

Dogs Attacked 5,581 Postal Workers Last Year
Dogs that happily greet letter carriers seem to be in the minority, according to the U.S. Postal Service, noting that unhappy dogs attacked 5,581 of its employees last year.
