...BIG PATTERN CHANGE THIS WEEKEND FOR SOUTHCENTRAL ALASKA...

THE TWO WEEKS OF SUNNY AND DRY WEATHER OVER SOUTHCENTRAL ALASKA IS
COMING TO AN END AS A WEATHER FRONT WILL MOVE INTO THE REGION ON
FRIDAY. THIS FRONT WILL SPREAD CLOUDS OVER THE KENAI PENINSULA
THURSDAY WITH THE REST OF SOUTHCENTRAL BECOMING CLOUDY THURSDAY NIGHT.
THIS FRONT WILL BRING SOME GUSTY EASTERLY WINDS THROUGH TURNAGAIN ARM
AND HIGHER ELEVATION IN THE ANCHORAGE AREA AND MATANUSKA RIVER WINDS
TO THE MAT-SU REGION. THE CHANCE AND TYPE OF PRECIPITATION ARE THE
BIGGEST QUESTION MARKS WITH THIS SYSTEM RIGHT NOW. MOST OF THE AREA
WILL LIKELY NOT SEE MUCH... IF ANY... PRECIPITATION EARLY ON AS
DOWNSLOPE WINDS KEEP SOUTHCENTRAL IN THE SHADOW OF THE KENAI AND
CHUGACH MOUNTAINS. BY SUNDAY THE CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION WILL INCREASE
AS THE DOWNSLOPE WINDS WILL DIMINISH BY THEN. PRECIPITATION TYPE WILL
BE ALL SNOW DURING OVERNIGHT HOURS. IT WILL LIKELY MIX WITH RAIN
DURING THE PEAK HEATING HOURS OF THE DAY BUT THE ATMOSPHERE IS STILL
COLD ENOUGH TO FAVOR SNOW OVER RAIN FOR MOST OF THE AREA.
