WSDOT Logo
LOCATION: South Atlantic Street between Colorado Avenue South and Alaskan Way South
DETAILS: At 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, crews will open a new overpass on South Atlantic Street. The overpass will allow freight and other traffic to bypass the railroad tracks that cross South Atlantic Street just east of the Port of Seattle’s Terminal 46.
The section of South Atlantic Street beneath State Route 99 will close at 4 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, and will remain closed to through traffic until the SR 99 tunnel opens to traffic. Starting Monday, drivers will use the new overpass to travel in both directions between Atlantic and Alaskan Way South.

MORE INFORMATION: A new north entrance to the BNSF rail yard on Colorado Avenue South will also open on Monday. The entrance will be accessible from the west using new freight-only lanes. Get more details on how your normal routes will change here.

To keep traffic moving safely, Seattle Police officers will be on hand to assist travelers during peak commute times next Monday through Wednesday. You can help by being mindful of other vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians as everyone gets familiar with the new traffic configuration.
