GOVERNOR BILL RICHARDSON APPOINTS CONRAD F. PEREA TO SERVE AS MAGISTRATE IN DONA ANA COUNTY

SANTA FE, NM -- The following information was released by the office
of the governor of New Mexico:

Governor Bill Richardson announced today the appointment of Conrad F.
Perea to serve as a Magistrate in Dona Ana County.

Perea, who served as Magistrate from 1999-2000, currently works as an
Assistant Professor in the Criminal Justice Program at the New Mexico
State University - Dona Ana Community College. He worked for 20 years
as police officer in Las Cruces, and has served as a Pro Tem
Magistrate since 2004, filling in for magistrates during their
absence.

"Conrad Perea has a vast experience with the Magistrate Court,
including hundreds of hours volunteering and training court clerks,"
Governor Richardson said. "His experience will serve him well as he
takes on this responsibility in this busy court."

Perea earned his Associates and Bachelors degrees from NMSU, and
earned his Law degree from the University of Denver, Sturm College of
Law.

Perea will replace Judge Guillory who resigned last week.
