I just got a Weatherbridge and absolutely love it. All of my data is sent
without a PC.
Here's more information on it:

Each one has it's pros and cons, which is why I use them both. What about

Expect relatively curt answers that generally leave you a little more
perplexed than when you started. I have never got used to that and each time
I have to seek help I cringe. The software writer , while generally a nice
guy, seems to be overwhelmed answering the same questions over and over
resulting in the curt replies. Expect to hear a lot of "no one else has
this problem" as a response. So if you can see you way through the learning
curve it really is a good piece of software that is desperately in need of a
help file. I use Weather Display exclusively for my system and server.

Nope............ Needs to be Linux/Unix software, but it is a general
purpose OS.

I run cumulus on an old XP Pro machine with 2 GB of ram.
I report to CWOP every 5 minutes, weather underground and PWS every 15,
but Weather Underground polls about every 5 minutes.
When Cumulus is minimized, it doesn't even show up on my task manager,
so I'm not sure why it is dragging your system down.
I suspect that something tagging along with Cumulus is eating up your
processor time. Which sites are you reporting to?

I have mine doing CWOP, Wunderground, PWS, and WeatherBug, and the Pi
is loafing.....
The IP one that someone else mentioned is essentially a little Linux
Computer as well. This can be done for about half the price with the
Pi package I posted from Amazon.

My Pi is doing weatherbug every minute (using the bash script I posted
over there), and CWOP/WUnderground/PWS every 5 minutes, and ssh
copying the data to my Public web server (http://weather.lerctr.org)
every minute.
Works well. E3654 on CWOP, KTXHUTTO9 everywhere else.

Roy,
This thread may be of interest to you:
http://sandaysoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9693
Particularly concerns around making sure you have the latest version of
cumulus, and also some possible driver issues with certain weather station
models leading to high cpu usage.

http://home.comcast.net/~wuhu_software/ I have been using WUHU for quite a
while and love it!
I upload to a number of sites, WU, CWOP, PWS, and a few others that I
forget at the moment. It is awesome! This coming from someone who is not
techie, does not speak computerese, and was on a very limited budget. I
started working a few weeks ago, so now, I may send a donation in to cover
it a bit, but was free when I started.

Talk to the author and user community. You should be able to resolve any
problems with cumulus one way or the other. You will not find any
weather software that does not have one quirk or another. There is a lot
of different software, but I don't know that there is "better" software.
BTW, what is most important?... data acquisition, storage, and
x-mission?... detailed analysis and pretty graphs? The software that I
use I do not look at, it is transparent, it moves data around and that's
all I need it to do. I have a lot of ways that I use the data, but the
acquisition program does not render anything that I look at. So, it
really depends on what you want it to do. Some are better at some things
than others.

I'm with Ted. I never look at either piece of software or the console.

I chose Cumulus 9.2 because its cpu and memory foot print was the
lowest of any package I tried. Plus it runs rock solid reliable for
me. I am running it on Windows Server2003 (basically the server
version of XP) on VMware Fusion on an Apple iMac running OS X 10.9
Mavericks.
It is uploading to 3 sites, plus my own web page every 2 minutes. CPU
utilization on the VM is negligible. Usually 0, but occasional bumps
to 5% during the FTP upload to my site. 311 MB memory consumed (I gave
Windows 1 GB RAM, 16 GB available on the iMac).
