Until we receive additional snowfall ski trails are closed.
Bah. Humbug.
We encourage you to come enjoy the splendors of nature in the Adirondacks: fresh, crisp Adirondack air and peaceful, lovely woods. Woods Lake is in beautiful condition for ice-skating and kicksledding with the ice at our end in the smoothest condition. Half of the pond will be ready by Christmas Day for ice-skating. The smaller of our two tubing hills is open and our 12km snowshoe trail system is open. Until we receive additional snowfall you may snowshoe on ski trails as well. Visit our website for details on all of these fun winter activities.
Beginning Thursday we will be organizing a daily schedule including kids' activities, wilderness hikes, lakeside campfires with marshmallow roasting, kyykka competitions (a fun, addicting FInnish ice game played in groups), equipment and waxing discussions and the like. Be sure to stop by to visit our reindeer, Viima.
The Finnish Line Lodge is open daily and our Tuulen Tupa Grill is open for lunch service daily from noon-2:30pm, excluding Christmas Day. Ski lessons are unavailable until we receive additional snowfall.
The Lodge, with a toasty fire in the woodstove, and outdoor activities will be available Christmas Day 11am - 4:30pm. As we give our staff the day off to spend with their families, there will be no food service Christmas Day.
Thursday is Olavi's birthday. What an amazing fellow. We will sing "Happy Birthday" and serve complimentary birthday cake in the Finnish Line Lodge at 2pm!
Until snow conditions improve, facility use will be offered at half-price.
Forecast: Christmas Day is expected to be sunny with a high in the upper teens. There is a chance of snow showers Thursday with up to an inch accumulation possible. Maybe, if everyone wears their jammies inside-out, Mother Nature will send us more snowfall than predicted....
All new ski gear in our shop is on sale. Who better than Olavi, former Olympian, to ensure you receive the proper equipment and fit for your needs! |
