Severe Weather Strikes Western & North Central Nebraska Wednesday Evening
The combination of an upper disturbance which moved from Wyoming into Nebraska, with ample low level moisture working on a stationary frontal boundary - led to a bout with severe weather on Wednesday evening, August 21st.
Wind gusts estimated up to 80 miles an hour, along with hail to the size of golfballs - blasted eastern Deuel County. WIndows were reported broken out of a residence located 4 miles west of Big Springs, on the north side of the home. Around 744 PM CDT hail to the size of baseballs was reported at Newport, in Rock County. Strong winds and locally heavy rain buffeted Atkinson in Holt County - with some localized street flooding reported. |
