PROGS BEYOND 24 HOURS ARE A CORD DROP AS UNCONFIRMED BUT CITIZENS ARE
SUGGESTED TO FOLLOW "ANY" UPDATES FROM ALASKA ON STORM AS A WEAK RIDGE
MOVES NORTH LACKING WARM AIR IN SUCH PROJECTED 20'S TO LOW 30'S IN
LOWER 48 WEST COAST IS EXAMPLE OF LACKING WARM AIR SUPPORT THENCE MEAN
IN ALASKA FOR END OF DECEMBER IS A MODIFACTION OF UPCOMING PACIFIC
STORM AGAIN LACKING STORM WINDS - IN SUCH FORECAST IS FOREWARD TO
PUBLIC TO REVIEW OF ALASKA CORD OF JET THAT FAIL IN DROP - .POWERFUL
PACIFIC STORM WILLBRING STRONG WINDS AND WARM TEMPERATURES TO
SOUTHCENTRAL ALASKA... .
AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVERTHE NORTH PACIFIC OCEAN IS TRACKING NORTH
TOWARDS THE REGION TONIGHT... AND LOOKS TO MOVE ASHORE THE NORTHERN
ALASKA PENINSULA AND BRISTOL BAY ON SUNDAY. THE PRIMARY THREAT WITH
THIS SYSTEM WILL BE VERY STRONG WINDS ON SUNDAY THROUGH SOME OF THE
MORE HEAVILY POPULATED AREASOF SOUTHCENTRAL ALASKA. THIS POWERFUL
STORM IS ORIGINATING WELL TO THE SOUTH OVER THE SUBTROPICS AND IS
EXPECTED TO BRING UNSEASONABLY WARM AIR WITH IT. THIS SHOULD ALLOW
TEMPERATURES TO POSSIBLY RISE TO NEAR 50 DEGREES. THIS WILL ALLOW THE
LION'S SHARE OF PRECIPITATION TO FALL AS RAIN. THE RAIN WILL BE HEAVY
AT TIMESOVER PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND ANDTHE SOUTHERN TO EASTERN
KENAIPENINSULA... WITH CONSIDERABLYLESSER AMOUNTS NORTH AND WEST OF
THE CHUGACH AND KENAI RANGES.
THE STRONG WIND THREAT IN ITSELF WILL MAKE OUTDOOR ACTIVITY AND TRAVEL
DIFFICULT... BUT COUPLED WITH VERY WARM TEMPERATURES COULD MAKE SOME
AREA ROADWAYS (PARTICULARLY PARTIALLY SNOW COVERED SECONDARY ONES)
VERY SLICK. ITIS ALSO WORTH NOTING THAT ANY PONDING WHICH DEVELOPS
FROM RAIN OR MELTING MAY BEGIN TO REFREEZE MONDAY AS TEMPERATURES
BEGIN TO MODERATE SOME IN THE WAKE OF THE STORM.
CONFIDENCE IN THIS STORM BEING A MAJOR IMPACT TO THE REGION CONTINUE
TO INCREASE... WITH HIGH WIND WARNINGS NOW POSTED FOR ANCHORAGE AND
PORTAGE VALLEY/TURNAGAIN ARM. ALL INTERESTED PARTIES SHOULD PAY CLOSE
ATTENTION TOAREA WEATHER FORECASTS.
