BLIZZARD CONDITIONS EXPECTED ALONG PORTIONS OF THE SEWARD HIGHWAY
MONDAY MORNING THROUGH CHRISTMAS MORNING...
A STORM SYSTEM TAKING SHAPE OVER THE WESTERN GULF OF ALASKA THIS
AFTERNOON WILL BRING SNOW TO PORTIONS OF SOUTHCENTRAL ALASKA TONIGHT
THROUGH CHRISTMAS DAY. THE WORST CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTEDALONG THE
SEWARD HIGHWAY CORRIDOR FROM EASTERN TURNAGAIN ARM TO TURNAGAIN PASS
AS WELL AS THROUGH PORTAGE VALLEY AND OVER TO WHITTIER. SNOWFALL WILL
DEVELOP THIS EVENING IN THESE AREAS AND THEN INTENSIFY MONDAY MORNING.
HEAVY SNOW WILL COMBINE WITH STRONG EASTERLY WINDS TO PRODUCE BLIZZARD
CONDITIONS EARLY MONDAY MORNING THROUGH MID MORNING ON CHRISTMAS
DAY... RESULTING IN HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS ALONG THE SEWARD
HIGHWAY. ALTHOUGH BLIZZARD CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO END BY LATE
TUESDAY MORNING LIGHTER SNOWIS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE INTO WEDNESDAY.
TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION OF ONE TO THREE FEET IS EXPECTED FOR THESE
AREAS THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT.
THIS SYSTEM WILL ALSO BRING SNOWFALL TO OTHER PORTIONS OF SOUTHCENTRAL
ALASKA OVER THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS... ALTHOUGH SNOWFALL AMOUNTS ARE
EXPECTED TO BE MUCH LIGHTER THAN ACROSS WESTERN PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND.
