ZONAL FLOW BRINGS DRIER WEATHER TO THE WGRFC AREA UNTIL THEEND OF THE FORECAST PERIOD ... ...METEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION...A dry, nearly zonal air flow pattern is dominating the weather conditions across the WGRFC area as a regional low pressure trough moves eastward. Cooler weather will persist along with below normal precipitation until Monday. High pressure ridging will build from Mexico into the central plains of the U.S. allowing Gulf moisture to rapidly increase on Sunday ahead of an upper level trough currently developing along the West Coast. The weather models bring in some precipitation into the forecast for far south Texas later this weekend as upper air disturbances continue to trigger light shower and thunderstorm activity. The amounts and timing of the storms vary with each model at this time. However, this activity is expected to continue rippling through the lower Rio Grande until the middle of next week at the end of the forecats period. Significant precipitation may be in store for central and east Texas river basinsa day or so beyond our current forecast period.No significant runoff is expected from these disturbances at this time but we will continue to monitor the progress of the system with updates as needed. It runs northeast from Federal Way , through Auburn , south Kent, Covington , Maple Valley , over the 1,375-foot (419 m) Tiger Summit , and then terminates at I-90 about 8miles (13 km) east of Issaquah near Snoqualmie . | Some damage of Yakutat Alaska Earthquake and relative other Reports of Gangs Involvement Posted: 14 Nov 2012 11:51 AM PST Magnitude 6.2 Gulf of Alaska quake reported Posted: November 12, 2012 An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.4 struck in the Gulfof Alaska on Monday — the largest quake in that region in nearly 25 years. No tsunami warnings were issued, and there were no reports of damage despite tremors being felt across a large part of southern Alaska. A series of aftershocks also were recorded. Natasha Ruppert, a seismologist with the Alaska Earthquake Information Center, said this was the largest earthquake in the region since 1987 and 1988, whenquakes of magnitude 7.8 and 7.7, respectively, struck. She said Monday's earthquake wasn't of the kind that would generate tsunami concerns, as it was relatively small and involved two sides of the fault moving horizontally (Common in magma movement) — not vertical motion. Ruppert said the earthquake was not directly related to the magnitude 7.7 quake that struck off the west coast of Canada last month, though she said the two arein same plate boundary system. Monday's quake struck about 150 miles south of Cape Yakataga, and about 180 miles from Yakutat. People reported feeling it from as far away as Sitka, Juneau and Anchorage, which is nearly 340 miles away, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Louise Petersen, who works at the Glass Door Bar in Yakutat, said items on the wall moved a little, but the quake didn't feel very strong. | A funnel of Fog has moved into the Divide of Southern and Northern Jet in Western United States Posted: 14 Nov 2012 08:57 AM PST From Truckee California to Parts of Northeastern Section of The State Fog has shown up - attempting to connect the two Jets at The Surface with very little success in that such Fog is called slope Fog or Mountain Fog unrelated to a Changing Air Mass. A number of Stations showing direction of wind but speed at 1 mile per hour meaning part of The Anometer is not or has not been Calibrated to The Beuford Scale but The Compass is Calibrated to directions of wind - In that reports do show continue breaking off from The Polar Jet South of 39 degrees North - Pressure are slowly dropping from lack of support of cold air aloft - The Air is cold enough tho of a small layer of Cirrus clouds of Ice but no midlevel Ice in the Alta class clouds which is what the diffence between The Polar and Southern Jet - That is why Snow in the moutains under a Southern Jet is "Wet" as the snow is developed by lift rather then fall as a Northern Jet has true snowfall - but Southern Jet is a lift type snow then fall like grains and not per se "Snowflake" as a snowflake need all three cloud levels with "Ice". Skiing in such grain like snow is much faster then the powder or flake fall of snow - each location is good skiing but be aware of the Latitude of the Earth where such skiing is done so that no injuries happen while traveling.
