The Dry Creek Fire grows with windyconditions
Fairbanks, Alaska — The Bureau of Land Management Alaska Fire Service
reports that winds are causing growth of the Dry Creek Fire to the
North and East. The fire is around 14,000 acres at this timeand is
close to the Tanana River. The BLM-Alaska Fire Service is currently
monitoring the fire from the ground with resources in the field and
air. Firefighters are patrolling the section of the TananaRiver that
may be impacted by the fire. They also are coordinating withDOF
engines patrolling that same section of river. Continued fire growth
is expected until rainy weather conditions develop. Smoke has been
reported in Fairbanks, North Pole and the Tanana River valley. The
fire, located 18 miles south of North Pole, 13 miles southof Eielson
AFB and 25 miles south of Fairbanks was caused by lightning on Jun 23.
