Narrative: A complaint by a local resident alerted State Forestry of
apermitted burn that was out of compliance. A landowner was burning
trash in the open and had an inadequate fuel break. The pile was
extinguished by Forestry, including a 0.1 acre area of grass. The
landowner was given a verbal warning, explaining the necessity
ofadhering to general burn permit stipulations, which allow for the
burning of woody debris only. The landowner was also reminded that
under a general burn permit a 15` mineral soil break is required
aroundpiles, even with sufficient tools andwater available on site to
control the fire.
