"In a country where a sitting congressman told a crowd that evolution and the Big Bang are "lies straight from the pit of hell,"  where the chairman of a Senate environmental panel brought a snowball into the chamber as evidence that climate change is a hoax, where almost one in three citizens can't name the vice president , it is beyond dispute that critical thinking has been abandoned as a cultural value. Our failure as a society to connect the dots, to see that such anti-intellectualism comes with a huge price, could eventually be our downfall."

this article hits a lot of legitimate points but there needs to be an understanding that regardless of the past people just need to try and put that behind and move forward. Unfortunately we will always have those on both sides who will refuse to accept responsibility for themselves and their actions and continue to perpetuate the racial hatred. the vicious cycle of white on black and black on white crime for whatever reason needs to be addressed by local civic leaders not the race baiters that incite racial hatred at any opportunity . its a battle within our nation that everyone needs to work to end. How is the question that needs to be answered
